Inevitably, everyone looks to Paris always for fashion inspiration. Just like me, but I find it hard to admit that, and that I almost never feel like I get it just right. But then again I am an emotional dresser. One day full leather and suede, another eyelet whites to the ground with a mountain hat. It is more about catching a moment when you travel though. And see what you gain from that.. See what I mean? (Below).
Landed and settled back in New York for fashion week we let ourselves look for
different influences this time around. I have always been a great fan of Nick Knight and his art. Recently he released a photo selection with a variety of designers participating in a
shoot for V magazine.
While we work on our reports I wanted to share some of my favourite shots from the shoot here in at Milk studios in LA.
As I have mentioned here before, I truly love both denim and culottes separately.
More often now that the weather is a bit unstable in LA I bring a denim shirt with me everywhere I go. I have about 5 now.
My favourite at the moment is a distressed oversized shirt i got from paige. It runs really big but doesn’t loose structure for anything!
I felt that I needed to make this denim shirt look a bit more sophisticated in this grab-and-go look of the day, hence why I paired it with my black silk Celine culottes and snakeskin Loubutins.
I usually never wear Loubutins as I think there are so many other great shoe brands out there right now. But for this occasion I really felt like clashing elegant with super casual.
Another look that I sometimes go for is the sexy casual denim outfit. It usually looks somewhat like this;
Knowing that I am also a great fan of Acne Studios, I am in love with these low bamboo-heels I found on my trip to Sweden earlier this year. They are super comfortable and looks great with my essential pieces.
I dont like to put too much effort into dressing unless I am going to an opening or a party or something. Effortless is key. But I have my moments where I like to dress like I was hosting the Oscars! Im off to a meeting now! See you this weekend 🙂
Celine + ripped denim = Client!
Happy Tuesday beautiful people! One of the superpowers of being based in Los Angeles is the absolutely gorgeous weather, temperature and closeness to miles of beautiful beaches. This weekend we took to the sand and welcomed the summer with bubbles and SPF 30 to start the new season with a gentle tan. While on the beach, scanning the latest Vogue UK editorials we came across some lush inspiration from Alexander Wangs muse and German model Anna Ewers (Vogue DE cover March 2015). The spread perfectly mirrored our feeling for beach fashion this summer giving life to blue ocean backdrops, salty hair and airy white blouses with 70s attic finds like crochet shorts and off the shoulder crop tops in rust, off-white and black lycra swimwear.
What we love about this look is the absolute ease at which you can pull it together. Who doesnt have a pair of black bikini bottoms and a white shirt? Then all you need is your farmers market tote, last years summer sandals (yes! to worn in already) and the ocean will do the rest for tan and salty hair. It will be a beautiful summer guys!
Love, RE x
Black and beige are the classic staple colors for sure, but I have always considered blue to be one of the top candidates to complement the staples. Blue, being the color of denim has a natural home in the staple closet and has always showed up in one tone or another on the runway.
Spring/Summer 2015 is no exception, and this season’s shades of blue range from almost turquoise (scuba blue) to beautifully saturated “classic blue” which surprisingly has made it feel updated and fun again (classic blue has a tendency to appear in a marine setting which I think has gone and come back one time too many). This inspires lovely new combos of blue where the shades can be mixed and matched in an endless number of trendy combos as well as worn as a pop accent on shoes or handbags.
Below we’ve collected a number of examples where these shades of blue can be found on the runway and on the high street. As you can see it pairs beautifully with darker shades of blue, classic white summer pieces, light gray and even matt deep red lip tones. So dont be afraid to pick it up in your makeup!
I’ll wear blue as a splash of color with a clutch, or in a funky t-shirt print with some black pants or jeans. I’m also keen to see if I can find a summer sandal with a dusty blue contrast color. I’ll keep you posted!
