RE Photo Inspo of the week!

Image

Landed and settled back in New York for fashion week we let ourselves look for
different influences this time around. I have always been a great fan of Nick Knight and his art. Recently he released a photo selection with a variety of designers participating in a
shoot for V magazine.
While we work on our reports I wanted to share some of my favourite shots from the shoot here in at Milk studios in LA.148453_960n 148455_960n 148446_960n 148448_960n 148447_960n 148443_960n 148442_960n 148450_960n 148454_960n 148451_960n

Louis Vuitton Cruise Collection 2016

Image

Nicolas Ghesquière’s latest LV collection is nothing short of an art show, watching the models float along the runway lining the pool of the gorgeous John Lautner Palm Springs mansion. Ghesquière had apparently laid eyes on the location 15 years ago coming up the driveway at magic hour. A first impression that last.

“The paradox of the brutalism of the architecture and the refinement of the interior was quite inspiring to me, I love the idea of sweet and hard at the same time.” – Nicholas Ghesquière

Naturally, this shines through in the clothes that compliment the building in a sweet and hard way showing classic sweeping shapes and feminine patterns with strong contrasting details in leather, sturdy metal finished off with futuristic sneakers, desert boots and sandal flats. Waist short leather jackets, flowy pants and blousy crop tops.

Colors take inspiration from the surrounding nature with warm desert beige tones, cold night silky black, suede blue, evergreen moss tones, rattlesnake patent patterns, perforated leather in short shorts and maxi gowns and rusty hues paired with shiny silks that reflect the stunning sunset. Patterns reflect the Palm Springs ever present 50’s as well as a native american vibe in everything from sequins to quilted puffer jackets.

NG’s work for LV is starting to form a little signature style with the recurring zippers from his first collection and the suede colorblocking. But the experimental designer never fails to bring the next level of contrast and innovation showing futuristic jacket shapes and fabrics with romantic, classic movement and femininity. Happy to say this is a stunning and inspirational collection.

To apply this style to your everyday life, dig out your leather pants (should not be deep in the closet), find a patterned blouse (probably cotton blend) with a feminine collar or sleeve and add a statement leather belt. Maybe you have invested in one of those lovely suede jackets this season? Pair that with lightweight, wide leg pants or a maxi skirt and you’ll be right and ready for the weekend. We’ll definitely give it a go!

With love from Cali, RE x

“Look Of The Week” – Earth Tones

Image

When living in constant warm climate, You can’t really help but long for that colder weather sometimes and the opportunity to wear layers with one of those amazing wool coats that have shown on so many runways for the fall collections recently.
I decided that since I had loads of travel plans for the early spring and summer that I should definitely invest in a new coat. The one I am wearing here is a wool coat from Sandro in a deep navy blue that I got on sale from their last AW Collection.
It is the perfect length for a coat and has no lining so you can label it the “LA winter coat” given its simple thin and light design.
I wanted to tone down the colours a bit, so we went for a tan leather dress paired with the navy coat in this “look of the week”, keeping the colors earth-toned, and adding a little edge with some black lace-up shoes to the sophisticated elements of the look.
We are usually very intrigued by a lot of color and pattern play for my personal looks, but I just love a well thought out classic outfit, especially if you are excited by a new investment piece and find great ways of styling it!

Back from travels + inspiration of the week!

Image

After just over a week of traveling to Stockholm and Amsterdam to seek inspiration, we have now landed to gather everything we collected during our time away.
We wanted to get inspired post all the fashion week madness and we are so happy to be back to report on some new trends coming our way this fall, especially after stopping by the home country of Sweden to see some familiar faces as well.
Meanwhile, back in LA our new website has been in the works for us and we are beyond excited to get our hands on the last tweaks this week so we can get ready for our new launch as soon as possible!
A lot has happened in a short space of time, but you have to start somewhere when things are piling up!

Much Love // Re.
